Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council

The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council was established to prepare fishery management plans to manage Gulf of Mexico fisheries. In doing so, the Council encourages local-level participation and representation in the development of its fishery management plans. These management plans are developed, with the help of people like you, to advise NOAA Fisheries Service on how to best regulate federally managed fish species. Management measures recommended by the Council always seek to achieve the greatest benefit to the nation and ensure a sustainable fishing future in the Gulf of Mexico.

Gulf Currents will keep you in the loop. It will prepare you to participate effectively in the creation of fisheries management measures by educating you about current events, possible management considerations, regulatory changes, the fisheries management process, and more.
